Police: Nevada Teacher Videotaped Child Sex Abuse

Alleged Victims Under 12 Years Old

Boulder City police told FOX5 Wednesday that a teacher accused of molesting children had “shocking” videotapes of the crimes.

Charles “Rick” Rogers, a teacher at Garrett Junior High School, is charged with 64 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of use of a minor in production of pornography, three counts of lewdness with a child under 14 and two counts of sexual assault of a minor under 14. He is being held on more than $1 million bail.

The Clark County district attorney’s office said many of the boys on the tapes and in photographs are under 12 years old and as young as 6.

"Rogers was observed performing fellatio on young boys, and some other inappropriate sexual acts he was performing on them," said Boulder City Police Chief Thomas Finn.

He added that all of the boys "appeared to be unconscious or sleeping extremely heavily."

The discovery of videotapes gave many people a chilling flashback to the recent case of convicted child molester Chester Stiles, who assaulted a young girl in the Nye County town of Mesquite.

Police said they were further repulsed at how many children may be involved with Rogers.

"The number of victims in this case is absolutely mind-blowing," Finn said. “I've never seen anything quite as vile, as troubling as this case seems to be."

It could get worse. Police are asking parents in Boulder City and nearby Henderson to turn in photos of their children, fearing that there are more who may have had contact with Rogers.

"They are scared, starting to wonder, ‘Was my child involved or not?’" said Boulder City police Detective Michelle Isham.

So far, police have collected all of their evidence from Rogers’ home and computer. They said nothing has been found on his school or recreation department computers.

But police said the harder they’ve looked, the more they’ve found.
