LAS VEGAS -- More details have emerged about Gov. Jim Gibbons' divorce. Both sides are making accusations against each other from infidelity to aggressiveness, and newly unsealed court documents spell out the accusations.Dawn Gibbons said the governor has been a busy man and not just because he is running the state. She claimed the governor has been fooling around with not one, but two women in Reno.In the affidavits, Dawn Gibbons said, "I am informed and believe that in addition to the involvement with Kathy Karrasch, the plaintiff was also having an affair with Leslie Durant."Karrasch is the woman whom the governor had texted hundreds of times over a several week period in 2007, while Durant, who once posed for Playboy, is the ex-wife of former Reno Mayor Pete Sferrazza. In one of her affidavits, Dawn Gibbons said, “Despite his disingenuous shallow and transparent protestations that his relationship with another man's wife is a mere friendship, his infatuation and involvement with the other woman is the real concealed and undisclosed reason for his voluntary departure from the marriage.”While Gibbons and her attorneys made those allegations, the governor lobbed his share of accusations, including claims of aggressive behavior. The governor's lawyer said, “One should never live in close quarters with a person for whom turmoil and aggression are useful.”He also said, “It was once said in another context that being in close quarters with such a volatile person was like being locked in a phone booth with an enraged ferret.”As for the text messages the governor sent to Kathy Karrasch, the governor apologized for using his state-issued cell phone and paid $130.But the governor denies Dawn's other accusations and claims the two women in question are friends. The Gibbons’ financial records were unsealed by the courts Monday. That information could be released later this month.
