On Friday, 100 immigrants had their wish come true. They became U.S. citizens.

They were sworn in at the Historic Fifth Street School.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, along with the city of Las Vegas, chose the downtown location for its cultural significance.

The new citizens raised their hands and took the oath of allegiance.

"I think it's the biggest day of my life to become a citizen of the United States of America. I cannot express myself because I'm so happy," said new citizen Majid Khazal.

The new citizens came from 40 countries, including Algeria and Thailand.
