Nevada Preps For Malpractice 'Settlement Marathon'
Judges Will Tackle Hundreds Of Cases

CARSON CITY -- Nevada’s Supreme Court is so backed up with pending medical malpractice lawsuits that it has scheduled a massive “settlement marathon” to solve the crisis.Starting in May, teams of two senior judges will be assigned to handle at least 18 cases on a weekly basis. Chief Justice James Hardesty recently told legislators more than 400 suits are pending.Those cases do not include hundreds more related to the 2008 outbreak of Hepatitis C at endoscopy clinics around the Las Vegas area.
