North Las Vegas police are investigating a child drowning at 2001 E. Tonopah Ave.

Police responded to a medical office complex at 12:01 p.m. Thursday at 1905 McDaniel St. regarding a report of a possible drowning.

It was reported that a woman arrived at the medical complex with a 1-year-old girl, possibly the victim of a drowning at a mobile home at 2001 E. Tonopah Ave., about a block away, police said.

The unresponsive child was given CPR and transported to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Police said they are investigating a report that the girl might have fallen into a bucket of water.

Detectives said they will conduct a thorough death investigation to determine whether or not the circumstances around the girl’s death involved criminal acts. At this time, no charges have been filed.

Police would like to remind everyone that homes where young children are present should be kept free of unattended household hazards. A child can drown in a very shallow amount of liquid in any kind of common container.
