Police Name Infant Who Drowned In Pool

Neighbors Say Pool Did Not Have Safety Covers

Police have named the infant who drowned at an in-home day care center Tuesday.

Jordan Williams, 1 year and 6 months old, of Las Vegas, died after falling into a backyard pool at Mariselas Family Day Care in North Las Vegas.

Neighbors said they want to know why the pool did not have any safety covers.

On Tuesday, two boys fell into the pool. Authorities said a 3-year-old survived, but Williams could not be revived.

The city of North Las Vegas Business Licensing manager said the owners received their license in January 2008.

They were limited to six children at the facility.

Officials said there are no codes or rules when it comes to swimming pools at in-home day care centers.

Neighbors said this tragedy was a reminder for them to take precautionary measures.

Officials said day care center owners go through a background check, and the fire department inspects the property for fire safety issues before a license is granted.

Police continue to investigate this case to determine if any charges will be filed.
