THE RANT

TOPIC: New Year's Eve Fireworks

NAME: PT Vegas

RANT: This year had the most pathetic fireworks display I've seen in almost 20 years here in Las Vegas. Just because one welder started a fire in the Monte Carlo, the rest of us have to suffer with a dismal fireworks display? What does one have to do with the other? This is ridiculous, I heard too many visitors say they are not coming back is that is all there was to see.

NAME: Paul

RANT: I came from Indiana to celebrate New Year's Eve. With years past the main, free attraction has always been the fireworks. I don't know what happened this year, but they just outright stunk. I know there was a concern about rooftop fireworks after the Monte Carlo fire, but if they don't get back to the rooftops next year, you might as well consider "America's Party" over. Only about 10 people on the Strip were able to see the fireworks.

NAME: Dave

RANT: After all the build-up for the fireworks on New Year's Eve, someone should be very ashamed of himself. People who came here from all over the world to see that disaster deserved better.

NAME: Dorian

RANT: As a local, I was completely disappointed in the New Year's Eve fireworks. The money for the fireworks comes from the casino room taxes that are supposed to be paid to Clark County, but are instead sent to the Convention Center for publicity for the casinos. The least they can do to show their appreciation for our taxes and our patronage is to give us fireworks viewable from the city. How would they like to see us boycott them for a month to show how much we spend on the Strip?

NAME: William

RANT: Give me a break. This is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Follow along -- a welder, without proper permits or fire watch, catches the top of the Monte Carlo on fire. This causes the city to require a $200,000 inspection to shoot off fireworks, with a permit and proper fire watch. Eight years the fire works have been shot off without incident, now they're compared to an unlicensed welder? What dummy came up with that and shot down the celebration?
