LAS VEGAS -- Fires have left two families without homes to begin 2009, Clark County fire officials said.Both fires took place just after 10 p.m. Thursday.One Henderson family on Camelback Lane called the fire department after seeing smoke come from an upstairs bedroom.The home was quickly engulfed in flames, but crews were able to knock the fire down in about 10 minutes. No one was injured, but the fire -- which may have been started by an electrical short -- caused about $250,000 in damages.A home on Robinson Ridge Drive was set ablaze after embers from the fireplace made it into the attic.Family members attempted to put out the fire with extinguishers but failed, calling CCFD, firefighters said.Crews were able to knock down the blaze quickly. No one was injured in the incident that caused $100,000 in damages.
