LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County School Board has the task of cutting $120 million out of the budget for next year.It held a budget cut meeting at 4 p.m. until almost 10 p.m. Thursday.Concerned parents spoke up about the budget cuts. The possible vote the board may have is to cut more than 250 administrative and office positions and to get rid of block scheduling. There's also a potential $27 million in staff cuts, and the possibility of a 15 percent cut to sports and after school activities. The talk of layoffs and cutbacks is premature right now, although some Clark County School District employees voiced their concerns. But before discussion broke out on specific topics, the school board did approve the assumptions for the 2009 budget, which include potential budget reductions.
