AAA: Less People Traveling For Holiday
Statistic Shows First Decline In Thanksgiving Travel Since 2002
There will be fewer people on the roads this Thanksgiving, according to the AAA Nevada.Despite the drop in gas prices across the state, more than 18,000 fewer people are expected to travel over the upcoming holiday period. That marks a 6 percent drop from the number of people on the road last year, showing the first Thanksgiving traveling decline since 2002."The Thanksgiving holiday period represents a time to be with family and friends, yet the state of the economy has really taken its toll on consumers," said Michael Geeser, AAA Nevada spokesperson. "This is the fourth consecutive travel holiday this year that AAA has projected a small year-to-year decline in travel."AAA's holiday travel figures are based on a national Web survey of 2,200 adults by the Travel Industry Association of America, which conducts special research for AAA.To get travel tips, should you plan to hit the road or the air, visit AAA's Web site.
