Former Judge Cannot Seek Bench Again

Suspended District Court judge Elizabeth Halverson has been officially removed from the bench, according to the state Judicial Commission.

Halverson was suspended from the bench last year after receiving complaints that she mistreated staff members at the Las Vegas courthouse, she hired her own security guards, she slept during hearings and she improperly met with jurors impaneled to decide cases before her, court officials said.

Halverson has maintained her innocence, saying that the court officials who filed the complaints were "out to get her."

The decision was made Monday morning. According to the official report, the commission agreed that she was unable to prove she was denied due process.

This decision means that Halverson can no longer seek judgeship in Nevada.

Commission officials have released their full decision to the public.

Halverson has yet to issue comment.
