A 35-year-old Las Vegas man died after falling while hiking on the Arizona side of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Just before 11 a.m. Sunday, the National Park Service received a transferred emergency call from Metro police. One of the members of the group he was hiking with called authorities, officials said.

The man fell about 75 feet while attempting to climb Fortification Hill, wardens said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. The body has been turned over to the Mohave County medical examiner.
