LAS VEGAS -- Suspended Judge Elizabeth Halverson said her husband smiled before he hit her on the head with a frying pan. That's according to Halverson's grand jury testimony released by the court on Monday."Please help, please help, please help me. He's beating me with a frying pan. I'm bleeding to death," Halverson said in her 911 call. She told 911 operators her husband was trying to kill her.According to transcripts from the embattled judge's grand jury testimony, her husband, Ed Halverson, grinned before the first blow. She said, ”He gave me this really nasty smile ... and then he hit me on the head."Elizabeth Halverson said in times during her call to 911, she may have sounded okay, but that was just to protect herself. The testimony said, ”I tried to talk to him calmly because I didn't want him to hit me again."She told the jury that she has no idea how the fight began. One moment, she said she was cleaning green beans in bed and discussing with her husband why the corn wasn't cooked. The next, she said Ed was above her, pelting her with a pan. When first responders arrived, they said Ed was covered in blood, wearing only shorts. One officer said Ed was “nonchalant … like a stone, like a rock.”
