Therapist Analyzes Halverson 911 Tapes

Psychologist Says Pattern Of Abuse Seems To Exist

A psychologist has analyzed the 911 calls made the night suspended Judge Elizabeth Halverson was attacked.

On the tape, Halverson goes through a range of emotions. What the psychologist found interesting was that with all the madness going on, she remained in control.

"Please help, please help, please help me. He's beating me with a frying pan. I'm bleeding to death," Elizabeth Halverson said on the 911 call. “He's trying to kill me -- my husband.”

Halverson sounds panicked as she calls from her bedroom. Police said her husband, Ed Halverson, was arrested for allegedly beating his wife with a frying pan. She was rushed to a hospital with serious head wounds.

It is believed that Elizabeth Halverson is recovering at local medical facility.

“I think you broke my jaw, and my hand, definitely,” Elizabeth Halverson said on the 911 call, apparently talking to her husband. “I don't think I can see from this eye. There's blood going everywhere. It's going to be a big mess, from all the blood.”

"It didn't seem like this was the first time that there has been violence in the home," said family therapist Donna Wilburn.

She gave her professional opinion after listening to the 911 calls.

"I don't know if that's a pattern, that after he gets violent he gets subservient, because abusive relationships have a cycle, and that could be part of his cycle," Wilburn said.

Wilburn listened closely to Elizabeth Halverson's tone.

"While she was talking to her husband, she was extremely calm and in control -- very matter of fact -- very not emotional. And while talking to the 911 operator, she was more emotional and upset and afraid," Wilburn said.

Wilburn said what's clear is that depression appears to play a major factor.

“They tend to stuff it and blow, and I wouldn't be surprised if both parties had that tendency," she said.

Wilburn said she was surprised to hear how calm at times Elizabeth Halverson was, especially with the damage that was done.

Wilburn said she sensed a feeling of normalcy from the 911 tape, which is an indication of an abusive relationship.
