LAS VEGAS -- The Valley now has a new casino along Boulder Highway.The Eastside Cannery opened its doors Thursday night.Hundreds waited in line for more than two hours.The casino features more than 2,100 slot machines and a 16-story hotel tower made of bronze, glass and steel.
Casino officials said it came at the right time."This one had a little bit extra to it, because this is the first casino hotel built in over a decade here down on the Boulder Strip. These people have been waiting for something new, and now, we've given it to them," said Joey Whitacre, vice president of casino marketing.The casino cost $250 million to build.
