THE RANT
TOPIC: Second Plane Crash
NAME: Anonymous
RANT: The North Las Vegas Airport is considered one of the most dangerous in the country. There have been several crashes around the airport in the last few years, affecting neighboring streets and neighborhoods -- two in the last week, one where two people were killed. Why doesn't the Federal Aviation Administration do something? This is getting ridiculous. Close it or do something to make the area safer.

RANT: It's a tragedy to those who have been killed in the accidents of the recent plane crashes. With all the growth in the valley, why would anyone buy a home in the flight path of any airport in the first place? The North Las Vegas Airport was there way before those houses were built, and now everyone wants changes to be made? Leave the airport where it is, and all you people move to the thousands of foreclosed homes that are available out of the flight path of the planes.
NAME: Doug
RANT: Both airports here in Las Vegas were originally built on the outskirts of town. Growth and progress has surrounded them over the years. The fact that two planes went down within such a short period of time is just coincidence. Planes crash so seldom that when they do, it's deemed very news worthy. If your uncomfortable living near either airport, just move.
NAME: Victor
RANT: First of all, my condolences to the families of those killed in both plane accidents. But why are people complaining about the airport not being safe? NLV Airport was there before those houses. It is the developers and city officials' fault for allowing development to occur around the airport. Accidents are bound to happen, and those houses are taking away a safety zone and putting themselves in danger. The same goes for McCarran Airport -- it is just a matter of time before something similar happens with one of those big jets. The airports should be about 20 miles away from the city.
NAME: Denny
RANT: I grew up in anchorage, Ala. where private, small planes were just about as common as a family car. Every year, the vehicle has to be FAA certified -- which included total inspection of everything -- to be able to fly. Any mechanical work done to the planes have to be preformed by FAA certified mechanics and again re-inspected/ certified to fly. I have two questions: Why isn't the FAA being questioned about the crashes, since they certified the planes? and, Why didn't these pilots land on a side street? Traffic can move out of the way, while houses don't.
