HENDERSON, Nev. -- Former Republican presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney, was in the Valley Wednesday stumping for Sen. John McCain at the Henderson Convention Center.FOX5 spoke with the former Massachusetts governor before the rally. He said Nevada is important to the general election."Nevada could easily be the state that decides who our next president is. Nevada's been in that spot before; and, for that reason, I think you're going to see Sen. McCain here time and time again," Romney said.Romney said Democrats are playing "the politics of envy" in recent ads and speeches that focus on McCain's wealth and multiple homes.McCain's former rival for the Republican presidential nomination said voters have not rejected past candidates because of their wealth. He suggested Democratic nominee Barack Obama was resorting to divisive politics.Democrats were using "the politics of jealously or envy or a sense that somehow we're going to be less likely to vote for someone because they've achieved economic success."Romney, a multimillionaire, made the comments before speaking at the rally.McCain said last week that he did not know how many homes he owned. The gaffe inspired Democratic attacks painting the Arizona senator as out of touch.Romney is reportedly on McCain's short list of possible vice presidential picks.McCain will announce his choice Friday at a rally in Dayton, Ohio.
