McCarran Changes Parking Structure
Economy Lots Shift Locations For Terminal 3 Construction
New construction at McCarran Airport is causing some switching, closing and rearranging of the current parking system.Beginning Monday, a new, 2,000-space economy lot on Gillespie Street between Warm Springs Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard will be open for public use.Aviation officials are opening the new lot because on Sept. 2, the current economy lot on Flight Path Avenue will be closed. Any vehicles in the lot will be left there until Sept. 15, after which they will be towed to the new lot on Gillespie Street.Crews are closing the old lot in preparation for the third terminal construction."(For me) it's easier to be dropped off than come here than to find a parking spot and come back," traveler Robby Kostrba said. The new lot is farther from the airport, officials said, but travelers will have access to the shuttle bus service. Plus, they said the relocation is a temporary fix: a 5,000-space lot will open just before Thanksgiving and another 6,000-space lot is slated for 2012.For more information about the new parking system, visit McCarran's Web site.
