LAS VEGAS -- Firefighters are grabbing their boots and hitting the pavement for a good cause. The 48th annual Boot Drive started Tuesday and will continue this week. Firefighters will hit the streets and parking lots to raise money for children and adults who suffer from neuron-muscular diseases. The money raised will help pay for treatment and equipment for Valley residents."Firefighters they're really excited," firefighter Scott Allison said. "This has become a long, long tradition in the fire service. Fifty-four years ago, it was a commitment made by the fire service to the Muscular Dystrophy Association that firefighters around this country would do everything they could to raise money."
Last year, Clark County firefighters raised more than $200,000. This weekend they will be in front of Smiths and Albertson's grocery stores accepting donations.
