A construction worker who was injured at the CityCenter project should recover from his injuries, Clark County fire officials said.

Just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters were called to the convention center side of the project, where they found the man laying on the ground.

According to witnesses, while some workers were trying to seal an air conditioner into a wall, the cover fell off, hitting the worker on the head and shoulder.

The 36-year-old worker was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

CCFD spokesman Scott Allison said he should make a full recovery and work has resumed at the site.

Doug Mure, a vice president for contractor Perini Building Co., said the man's an employee of a mechanical subcontractor on the job.

A series of serious injuries and 12 deaths at Las Vegas construction sites since December 2006 have spawned an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration. Six of those deaths involved workers on the CityCenter project.

The $9.2 billion CityCenter is expected to open next year with a 4,000-room hotel-casino, condominiums, boutique hotels and a retail, dining and entertainment complex.
