Davila's family said there are few sidewalks or signs on the street to warn drivers about pedestrians, and said they want answers. One neighbor said this incident wasn't the first one he had seen at that intersection. For years, some members of the community said they have asked city leaders to fix the intersection, which is near several schools.Residents said a recent test showed the average motorist goes twice the speed limit down Coleman Street, which is used commonly used as a shortcut. One neighbor said drivers go around the corners blind. Streets are poorly marked, there are few signs and there's a blocked view to the street, neighbors said. The community is mourning the loss of a teenager who they said was the most popular of his class.Davila’s family said he was an outgoing teenager who loved to dance, listen to music, play basketball and watch boxing. They said he was a jokester who always had a smile on his face.Davila had always been protective of his family and friends, who called him a hero. His family said he had big dreams to become a rapper or a boxer and that he had some dancing moves no one could match. The family said police were testing the driver of the car for intoxication. There was no word Tuesday night on those results.Family and neighbors said they'll continue to push for city leaders to fix the intersection, so this doesn't happen to another child.
