LAS VEGAS -- Renewable energy, natural gas and solar power were just some of the buzz words heard at the national Clean Energy summit, which took place at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The summit wrapped up Tuesday with closing remarks from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. It started off Tuesday morning with two political power players.“There’s no better place for this summit, Nevada, the Saudi Arabia of renewable energy,” said Sen. Harry Reid.
Reid addressed a large crowd pushing for clean energy solutions. He said that's the only answer to lower gas prices and a stronger economy. He invited an unlikely ally to join the cause.“No one would ever imagine the Democrat Majority Leader of the U.S. and wealthy Republican entrepreneur T. Boone Pickens being here in Las Vegas singing the same song and the same verse,” Reid said.Pickens also said he met with both Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama. He said he's challenging both candidates to come up with a plan to reduce foreign oil by 30 percent within 10 years.Energy experts plan to take the recommendations from the summit to the upcoming Democratic and Republican conventions.
