Official Says Fire Began In Deep Fryer

LAS VEGAS -- Firefighting crews extinguished a fire Tuesday night at Smith and Wollensky’s Steakhouse at 3767 S. Las Vegas Blvd.Preliminary reports said the fire was at the MGM Grand, but Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison said the blaze was contained to the kitchen of a three-story building adjacent to, but separate from, MGM.Allison said a deep fryer in the restaurant’s kitchen caught on fire. He said the grease, combined with a slow exhaust system, caused a large amount of smoke.The fire was contained to the kitchen, and there were no injuries, Allison said.
