LAS VEGAS -- The family of a Valley woman killed in Monday's bus stop crash spoke about the collision on Tuesday. The family said it is upset the driver, Steven Murray, may have been driving on prescription drugs.Police said his pickup truck plowed into a bus stop, killing one woman and seriously injuring another. The family said it wants justice.
The coroner's office had not released the name of the woman killed, but her family said her name was Patricia Hoff. They said she was 55 years old and a single mother of two daughters. They said Hoff was in Las Vegas working and helping her daughter raise her grandchildren. The other woman at the bus stop was Porsche Hughes, 26.She was taken to Sunrise Hospital where her leg had to be amputated.Police said they are still waiting for the blood test results from Murray to confirm whether he was driving under the influence of medications. He is being held at Clark County Detention Center.Murray is expected to be in court later this week. The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada said it's been working on making bus stops safer."We’re moving as many of the bus shelters from off of the sidewalk to behind the sidewalk, further away from the movement area where cars and trucks and traffic … The further we can get them away, the safer we think it will be. And the data seems to indicate that’s the case," said RTC general manager Jacob Snow.So far, RTC officials said they've moved 87 bus shelters off the sidewalk and put them onto either public or private property.
