LAS VEGAS -- With skyrocketing gas prices and construction clogging most Valley freeways, Las Vegas still saw a decent amount of visitors during the Fourth of July holiday. That's according to AAA.In the first four months of this year, the number of people traveling from southern California to Las Vegas has dropped 5 percent when compared to 2007, said representatives from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau. The number of daily cars coming from California has dropped to about 2,000 vehicles, which may not sound like a lot, but CVA officials said those cars carry people with money.Mayor Oscar Goodman is less pleased with the statistics, saying "down slightly" isn't good for the city. According to the Las Vegas Sun, the mayor said the prices are decreasing tourism.
