LAS VEGAS -- In an effort to combat the rising number of auto-pedestrian wrecks happening in Las Vegas, the Metro Police Department will be combining with other law enforcement groups to conduct a pedestrian saturation patrol this weekend. As of June 15, Metro has recorded 23-pedestrian related fatalities in their jurisdiction. Of the 23 related fatalities, 18 are due to pedestrian error, police said. While this number is one short of the number from June 2007, Metro wants people to understand that their safety on the roadways is in part their responsibility.Officers in the Southeast Area Command will be conducting a saturation Friday from 3 to 11 p.m. There will be another saturation at the Bolden Area Command on Tuesday, from 2 to 10 p.m.They said they will have a no tolerance approach when dealing with violators.
