LAS VEGAS -- One thing most of us can't live without is gas. While we can’t control the price, many people have changed the way they shop for it -- even if that means a long wait in the desert heat. The price at Huey's Mart on Wednesday was $3.99.Bumper to bumper, car after car, people are pulling up to fill up at a much lower price."It's hot, but it's worth the wait, considering what gas prices are nowadays," said customer Lisa Mendez said.Huey's Mart at 1591 N. Decatur Blvd. is quickly becoming the service station to the masses. Gas there is 25 cents less per gallon than the state average.People who operate gas-powered equipment make it their one-stop shop. Owners of the "guzzlers" are giving it a go, too. It’s so popular, managers have set up signs to keep traffic flowing and tempers from flaring."It seems to be running smoothly. We're keeping the pumps rolling 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said gas station owner Hugh Canady. He said it's always busy, day or night.Huey's is taking in money hand over fist, but what's important to their customers is that some of their hard-earned cash is staying right where it should be -- their wallets."He's giving a good deal to everybody. Everybody needs to come take advantage of this and leave all of the competitors alone, and maybe they will lower their prices to meet economic standards of what everybody can afford," said customer Carlo Vanetti.Huey's owner said he searches for the cheapest gas across the country. When he finds it, he said he snatches it up and then passes that savings along to Valley drivers.
