LAS VEGAS -- The sister of a 4-year-old who died after being locked in an SUV for 17 hours is trying to give the boy a proper burial.Jason Rimer's sister, Crystal, was joined by other family members Sunday to raise money so they can pay for the child's funeral."It was such a shock to all of us," she said. "When we heard about it, I couldn't believe it."Jason was found by a sibling in his parent's SUV on June 10. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Investigators determined that the child had been in the car -- parked in the family's driveway -- for 17 hours, which is what led to his death."I'd like people to not judge my family," Crystal Rimer said. "We are planning a funeral, but we don't have a date because we don't have the money."Crystal and some community members held the car wash to raise money so her family can give the toddler a "proper burial."Four other children in the Rimer family, who are under the age of 18, are being held at Child Haven.Currently, parents Colleen and Stan Rimer have no visitation rights to the four minor children. They will be back in court Monday to determine if they can have their children back.Police have not said if the pair will face charges in the death of Jason Rimer.
