During the hottest time of the year, Nevada Power will give Valley residents a much-needed break in their utility bill.

According to the Review-Journal, the company plans to cut costs by 7.5 percent in August, which will equate to about $19 off the average power bill.

On average, August is the peak month for air conditioning use in Las Vegas, power officials said.

While the decrease was not supposed to take effect until October, they added that the decrease in prices now may mean an increase in prices later this year.
