LAS VEGAS -- Metro police said state Rep. Francis Allen has been charged with battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing her new husband and then telling him to call his mother after he asked for help with the wound.Paul Maineri told police that his wife of seven weeks, Francis Allen, was upset with him on Saturday evening and stabbed him in the left forearm with a steak knife.Maineri drove himself to a hospital, where his wound was closed with three stitches. Allen told police Maineri cut himself, and when Maineri realized Allen faced arrest, he tried to say the same thing, according to the police report.According to police, Maineri said Francis had accused him of embarrassing her in front of their friends.A Metro spokesman said Allen was booked late Saturday for felony battery with a deadly weapon and for misdemeanor battery for scratching Maineri on the forehead with her wedding ring when she pushed him. She posted bail on Sunday and was released.Allen didn't immediately return a call to her home seeking comment.
