LAS VEGAS -- Mayor Oscar Goodman held a news conference Thursday morning and touched on the money troubles surrounding the Las Vegas marathon. The corporate owner of the marathon said it owes thousands of dollars to southern Nevada businesses and organizations. It promises to pay up by June 15.The losses reportedly stem from a significant loss on the 2007 race.
"I would hate to see any kind of discredit come to our community as a result of them stiffing anybody. But I don't know any of the details, and I would hope that if they owe somebody money, they would pay the money and prepare for the next marathon," Goodman said. The mayor also addressed rumors that he plans to run for governor. He told us his wife said he could, but he hasn't decided yet.
