LAS VEGAS -- While many stars are welcome on the Strip, former NBA star Charles Barkley may not want to go to the Wynn.According to reports made to the Clark County District Attorney, Barkley owes the Wynn $400,000 in gambling debts. On Oct. 18 and Oct. 19, Barkley borrowed four $100,000 gambling markers from the Wynn, the report said. After spending the money, casino officials said Barkley left without making restitution.Wynn officials have attempted to collect the debt from Barkley, according to the report, but Barkley would not respond.
District attorney David Rogers said Barkley will be given a chance to make restitution to the Wynn before charges are filed, but the investigation will go forward.A state law allows felony charges to be pressed against people who do not repay gambling markers.Barkley, 45, played in the NBA for 16 years, and currently works as a sports broadcaster.Barkley's agent in New York did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
