Police need the public’s help finding a man who tried to lure a teenage girl into his car.

The incident happened around South Hualapai Way and West Reno Avenue.

The 14-year-old girl's father said she was late to school, so she started walking.

Her father said a man pulled up next to her and started saying inappropriate sexual things. He then circled around her and pinned her into a corner, threatening her and claiming he had a gun.

The girl was able to get away and get some help.

Metro police said it happened Monday as the girl was walking to a local middle school, which the girl’s father said was Frank and Victoria Fertitta Middle School at 9905 W. Mesa Vista Ave.

He said the incident happened about 150 yards from the school.

Police are still looking for the man.

They said the girl was extremely lucky.

"She did the right thing. She became alarmed. She ran to a safe house. The people there let her in and called 911,” said Metro Lt. John Bradshaw.

Police said the man is in his 20s and was last seen wearing a blue shirt, sunglasses and black pants.

He was driving an older four-door gold and tan Cadillac.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
