A man is at University Medical Center with unknown injuries after Metro's SWAT unit was forced to remove him from a home.

The standoff began shortly after 9 a.m. at the Siegel Suites Apartments near Las Vegas Boulevard.

Police were called to the residence after a report of a domestic disturbance. After officers contacted the people inside the residence, police said, the man barricaded himself in the apartment with hostages.

He eventually let everyone go but refused to surrender, police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m., SWAT officers were forced to use a flash bang to enter the residence. They were able to take the man into custody, sending him to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Once he is released from UMC, officers said the man will be booked on felony domestic abuse charges.
