LAS VEGAS -- For the next week, Metro police will be hitting the streets to check for teens wearing seat belts.Through next Thursday, officers will be saturating in three different areas of the Valley: the Bolden Area Command, the Northeast Area Command and the Southwest Area Command.Officers will have a no-tolerance policy toward drivers caught driving without seat belts. In 2007, 37 teens, ages 16 to 20, were killed in wrecks. In those collisions, more than 70 percent of those teens were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Officers hope that the enforcement will help prevent future fatalities through education.
