Closing Arguments To Be Heard On Monday

The preliminary hearing for two teenagers accused of killing a Palo Verde High School freshman will continue on Monday.

The final witness testified Friday morning.

The judge has decided to hear the closing arguments on Monday. On Friday, the court heard from Metro detectives and learned about the suspect's statement to police.

The parents of Christopher Privett were in court for day three of the preliminary hearing. Ezekiel Williams, 18, and Gerald Davison, 16, are accused of killing Privett during a drive-by shooting in February. Detectives believe the murder was gang-related.

Investigators said Privett was walking home from school with three other boys -- one a former gang member -- who started throwing gang signs. Detectives said Davison admitted to firing several bullets at the boys as Williams drove the car.

He said after he went through the intersection his window rolled down, and he fired four to five shots at the people. They had a confrontation with Davison.

"He told detectives he didn't mean to kill anyone,” Clifford Mogg, of Metro’s homicide division, said.

Davison told detectives his intent was to scare the boys, and his one message to the grieving family is, “Sorry.”

The two teenagers are facing murder charges.

The hearing continues on at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
