Pre-Foreclosure Homes Top 6K In March
Number Has Doubled Since February

LAS VEGAS -- Homeowners in Las Vegas are becoming fewer and further between, according to some new statistics.More than 6,000 homes are nearing foreclosure in March. That is more than 50 percent since February and more than twice the number in March 2007.Clark County officials said almost 16,000 homeowners have been served notice of default in the Las Vegas area, putting them in a pre-foreclosure status.This news comes just days after the Senate drafted new legislation that would help homeowners battle the housing crisis.Sens. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., efforted the Senate to write legislation that would offer breaks to those nearing foreclosure, as well as incentives to homeowners and government agencies to buy and renovate foreclosed homes.
