McCain Visits Valley

Romney Helps Campaign, Won't Speculate On VP Seat

It's been almost a year since presidential candidate John McCain made a visit to Las Vegas, but the Arizona senator will be in the Valley Friday.

The Republican candidate will be at the Venetian around 12 p.m. for a private fundraising luncheon. Tickets to the event reportedly cost $1,000 per person.

McCain has been on a week-long fundraising tour and former rival Mitt Romney is helping him out. The two were making the rounds Thursday in Utah and Colorado.

Some people are speculating that it could be a sign that Romney will be McCain's top choice for vice president.

"You know, there are probably 20 and maybe even more," Romney said. "You probably have a full list. I think of probably 20 names of people who, I think, could be excellent vice presidential nominees from our party. That's a process the senator will probably carry out. I am not going to engage in the sort of speculation on that."

The candidates weren't very cordial during their campaigning, but after Romney dropped out, he praised and endorsed McCain.
