Majority Of Students Fail Algebra 1, 2, Geometry, Officials Say

LAS VEGAS -- According to a new standardized test in Clark County high schools, students didn't just fall short of the mark -- they missed it completely.District officials released the mathematic results of the new exam Wednesday.According to the results -- posted in the Review-Journal -- 91 percent of students failed the end-of-year exam for Algebra 1, 87 percent failed the same test for Algebra 2 and 88 percent of Geometry students didn't meet the end-of-term standards.The exams were supposed to be a measurement of whether students are mastering those math subjects, and this was the first year it was administered.
Officials are going through the results to analyze what went wrong and how to fix the problem.
