One group is helping "spread the word" to some Valley elementary students.

"Spread the Word," a literacy division of the Kids to Kids Nevada, has adopted its 16th school to help students learn the benefit of reading.

Sewell Elementary School students will receive information about the importance of reading, followed by some books for them to practice with.

Since 2001, "Spread the Word" has distributed more than 922,000 books and has served more than 86,000 children in southern Nevada.
