LAS VEGAS -- Just shy of two weeks since the death of a Palo Verde sophomore, the teens who police said are responsible for the drive-by shooting will stand before a judge.A hearing for 18-year-old Ezekiel Williams and Gerald Davison, 16, was postponed last week when the district attorney requested more time.On Friday, the district attorney told the judge police still had more witnesses to interview. They also wanted to wait for the autopsy report to be completed before moving forward.Chris Privett, 15, was shot and killed during the shooting, police said. Attorneys for the suspects say the investigation should've been completed before the arrests were made.
Williams and Davison sat in jail over the weekend. Williams' attorney expects his client be able to make bail arguments during the trial Monday.Police said Williams was driving the car and made a u-turn that allowed Davison to carry out the shooting near Palo Verde High School earlier this month. According to the arrest report, Davison shot at the group over gang signs the victim and his friends flashed to a female passenger in the car.Brent Bryson, Williams' attorney, fears his client may not be getting fair treatment right now because he said the investigation is not done. Bryson also wants to remind the public that Williams is innocent until proven guilty.Lawyers for both teens are expecting a high bail to be set, but Bryson said he'll make motions to have it affordable and also ask that he be placed on house arrest.Davison faces one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder in connection to the shooting.Privett was the only person shot and killed. One bullet did graze the backpack of another friend walking in the group that day.
