LAS VEGAS -- While crews are working feverously to repair the damage caused by a three-alarm fire, officials from the Monte Carlo Hotel-Casino are donating to charity.Since the hotel is closed to the public and its guests have been relocated, employees are taking the meals meant for guests and giving them to the Three Square Food Bank. Since the majority of the food is perishable, officials said it would be better served at the food bank for the needy than being thrown away. The hotel was closed after a three-alarm fire on Friday. The blaze damaged the top three stories of the casino and forced its evacuation. Guests were relocated to sister hotel-casinos on the Strip.MGM Mirage Inc. -- the Monte Carlo's parent company -- has hired contractors to removed the charred exterior and roof from the building before it can be reopened, according to county officials.
Crews were detained from repairs Monday due to high winds. Casino officials said they should be back to work on Tuesday.
