A single mother of five has died from having a 6-inch metal spike impaled into her head.

Metro police said the woman’s boyfriend, Jesse Lucio, 42, has confessed to the crime and was arrested and booked into Clark County Jail on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

Authorities said the woman was found by her 16-year-old daughter, who had returned home from school Wednesday to find her 1-month-old sister alone and crying inside the home at 5223 Jeff Drive.

Police said the girl searched for her mother and found her unresponsive on the ground in the garage.

The woman was transported to University Medical Center Trauma, where she later died of her injuries.

Homicide detectives questioned Lucio after he was located inside a residence in northeast Las Vegas.

The victim’s name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
