LAS VEGAS -- A recent poll said the economy is now the No. 1 issue in the race for president, with one of the target areas being the mortgage crisis. While Depublican candidates prefer to see the private sector work out the problem, Democratic candidates endorse a federal fund to support homeowners in over their heads."We need a National Predatory Lending law that cracks down on so many of the abuses," said Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. "It needs to cover from the front-end fees to excessive interest rates."Nevada remains at the top of the list for most foreclosures, followed by California and Florida.
