HENDERSON, Nev. -- Parents and students will get an opportunity to voice their opinion about drug testing athletes Wednesday.Officials from Green Valley High School will hold a meeting on campus at 6 p.m. to talk to parents about a new drug testing policy. The program would randomly select different athletes on a monthly basis for testing. When it is implemented, the program would be the first drug-testing policy in a public school in Clark County. While the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that random drug testing of student athletes is constitutional, the American Civil Liberties Union said there are too many loopholes in the policy.
Some Valley private schools having been drug-testing students for several years -- including Faith Lutheran Junior-Senior High School, where 18 students are tested monthly.
