Authorities have shut down the Cosmopolitan construction project after one worker was injured on the job.

Shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Clark County firefighters received a call about a worker falling from the main structure. Police said the man was wearing his safety harness, but the beam it was connected to gave way, causing him to fall 50 feet.

The man suffered a significant head injury and has been transported to University Medical Center, police said.

The Cosmopolitan construction project is a hotel and condominium complex near the Jockey Club on the Strip.
