They were first installed at 15th and Fremont streets and now the city is installing them down the Strip. The city will be installing traffic cameras at intersections on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Officials said the new cameras will be used to enhance security on the Strip. Though their direct locations are not known, authorities said they will be focused on the traffic areas.

The department of Homeland Security gave the city a $500,000 grant for the cameras. The footage will be offered to Metro police and the Regional Transportation Commission in real time.

The four camcorders will be installed by February.
