Tuck Surrenders To Authorities

Man Flees After Probation Violation, Police Say

After police say he attempted to flee the area for a probation violation, police have the man responsible for turning in a sexual assault tape to authorities in custody.

Darrin Tuck, 26, arranged to surrender after evading arrest Friday, police said. Authorities took Tuck into custody on Sunday.

Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said Tuck was on the run but his options ran out, saying media coverage of the case made him "too hot to handle." Prosecutors are set to charge Tuck with possession of child pornography and possibly promoting child pornography Monday, DeMeo said.

Tuck had been on probation for desertion and failure to pay child support, but his probation was revoked and authorities were unable to arrest him Friday night. He claims he found the tape in the desert, but authorities said he possessed it for as long as five months before turning it in.

Tuck's lawyer, Harry Kuehn, said Tuck turned in the tape in a reasonable time and says the sheriff's department is exaggerating its evidence and jeopardizing his client's chance of a fair trial.

Metro police are still searching for Chester "Chet" Arthur Stiles, 37, who is suspected of sexually abusing the girl. He is currently wanted in Clark County on a 2004 warrant for lewdness with a minor under the age of 14.

The girl featured in the video was found safe and alive in Las Vegas. Now 7, she lives with her mother.
