The City of Lights leads the U.S. in domestic vacation spots.

According to the 2007 Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates travel survey, Las Vegas was the premiere U.S. vacation spot in the fall of 2006. The next most-popular U.S. vacation spot is Disney, which is located in Orlando, Fla.

Researchers said the survey also combats the myth that Americans do not take vacations. They said that over 85 percent of the people surveyed said the average trip they are booking for the remainder of the year is in the 6-10 day range.

Caribbean cruises top the list of international vacations, followed by Cancun.

The biggest drop in the U.S. destination list was registered by Fort Myers, Fla. Last year it ranked 8th in the fall survey, this year it dropped eight spots to 16th place.
