LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Clark County judge Elizabeth Halverson, who was recently suspended from her six figure-job, has another messy situation on her hands. In December, Clark County declared Halverson's home a public nuisance and told her to clean it up. Junk covered her yard and her pool was filled with stagnant water. Halverson, who uses a wheelchair, has explained that she is unable to move the objects and cannot get her husband to do it.She has signed an agreement that county commissioners will consider Tuesday. Under the deal, Halverson must clean up her property by Oct. 15, or the county will hire contractors to do it and send her the bill. The agreement bans Halverson from appealing.Halverson was elected to the bench in November but was suspended last month with pay by the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission. The commission said she lacked the adequate legal ability to conduct criminal trials "without threat of serious harm to the public or the administration of justice." She is appealing that decision to the Nevada Supreme Court.
